all is not lost, unless you were to send the bike to, say, me. Then you would have lost it, because I'd be hard pressed to send it back. That is a lovely bike...all of the other serial numbers that we have discussed seem to start with a double first letter, so I would be tempted to hazard a guess that yours is older than mine (an '85).
Do you know what the original parts were on the bike?
