This hobby can get addicting :)

AND expensive LOL

Here's my story:

Dusted off the my old MTB again in January after a few years of it collecting dust in the shed (2000 Specialized Rockhopper Pro) and decided to go for a little 12 mile ride (to the gym and back) just for some exercise.

The next weekend we decide on a 15 mile recreational ride, weekend after that its a 16 mile rec ride, followed by a 20 mile rec ride etc.

- Decide to take the bike to the LBS for a Tune-Up and have some 26x1.5" slicks installed because the knobbies just ain't cutting it on the 20+ mile rides (Proceeded to make a couple of 30+ mile rides on the new tires and makes a nice difference). Only problem is my hands are starting to have some "numbing" feeling on these longer rides so I pick up a set of gel gloves during one of these rides

Then I decide I want to start commuting a couple of days a week (mainly for exercise, but soon realize all the other benefits) so I take advantage and start stocking up on some goodies for my commute:

Nashbar trekking bar
Ergo P1 grips
Planet Bike Superflash tail light

1st commute is a success, but on the ride home stop at the LBS and pick up a new helmet, a Giro Atmos. Decided I could use the protection with the way Miami drivers are.

Realize I need a few more things:

Tire Levers
Extra Tube
Park Multi-Tool

Decide the backpack ain't cutting it on the commute so I order:

Topeak quick release rear rack with trunk bag/panniers

Now my MTB is turning into a commuter so I of course NEED another bike for my rec ride on the weekends.

Picked up my first road bike, a 2007 Felt Z90 last weekend w/under 10 miles! for $400. So I had to go out and get:

Innovations Ultraflow CO2 dispenser
Patch Kit
New Superflash tailight
New floor pump so I can inflate these high pressure tires
New seat post bag because I don't want to have to switch from one bike to another
New Pedals: Shimano PM-D324 because i ride in regular sneakers
New shorts: Performance Elite (because my nether regions were already hurting after a short 5 mile ride on teh road bike)
New xtra pump mount for the felt so I can switch my frame pump from bike to bike (Until I can order my new Road Morph pump )

Now I've got to start shopping for some new SPD shoes to use with my new pedals and pick up a book on road bike maintenance (looking at the Zinn one).

I am loving this new hobby even though my wallet is hurting.
