You shouldn't need to do this, racing or not. Go back to your optometrist and tell them you have a problem with keeping contacts from drying out. There's a laundry list of things you need to try.
As an optometrist, I think you have three reasonable options:

1) Operator's advice is right on: Try a different brand of contact lens. Not all contact lenses work for everyone. A lens that's perfect of one set of eyes will be terrible for the next.

2) Prescription sunglasses or Transitions/photochromatic (however, “wrap-arounds” only work if your Rx is relatively low in power)

3) LASIK/PRK corrective surgery. Depending on your Rx power, this may be your best option from an optical AND a convenience stand point.
