In the meantime, I have discovered that it must be a model year 2000 Trek 6000. Yes, I can measure things. However, since seat post sizes come in .2 mm size increments, it is not that easy to make sure that I am getting the exact size that I need. I want to ensure that I purchase the correct seat post size first thing, rather than try it, scratch it up , and attempt to return it. Thanks to everyone for their help.
