I was picking up some speed last night on the bike, when out of nowhere I become stuck in pre-downpedal motion on the right pedal. I finished the remainder of the ride with my left foot, using back and forth pedaling to get to my destination.

I realized there was a bunch of gunky build up on my chain and derailer. So, i cleaned them up tonight and hope to reassemble and reunite with my bike tomorrow.

Does this gunk seem like it might have been contributing to the problem or am I in for a rude awakening once my bike's pieced back together?
