I rode to work on Wednesday in 35mph winds gusting to 55 mph, It was pretty bad but just about doable, I was down to the granny ring and going about 2mph a couple of times.

I also bottled it on Monday due to the predicted 80mph, coupled with torrential rain. I went out on Wednesday to gauge what was reasonable to cycle in. I would say that continuous above 40mph or gusting above 60mph is not worth the risk, especially if you have a long commute.
