The housings themselves are much tougher too. Thicker and tougher than the generics. Sometimes, racing MTB and mud are unavoidable and especially if it starts raining in the middle of a 12 hour event.

Someone should just market the shielding tubing and ferrules. Having to pay an extra $25 for this stuff is a joke. I can see situations where you'd want that off-road though. I don't MTB if the trails are muddy (conservation), but I do hit some stream crossings. Of course, my MTB is single speed
