You can lash it to something solid. I've seen pictures with two cars parked to a suitable distance, and the hammocks tied in between. Apparently you can also set it up as a kind of tent, if you have a pair of hiking poles and some extra rope. In that case you will sleep on the ground, so you need a level place. As a sea-kayaker I wonder if the same could be done with a two-piece paddle?
