Ahh, good advice that I was looking for I won't be able to use fat tires AND have fenders..... something I hadn't considered. But does anyone know how wide I can go on a Trek 1000?

I was already considering studs for my 'bent, but now I may need to look for another frame for the snow days. I've read where 'narrower' tires are better for cutting through the snow and that's when I'd most likely be using it.......

Any suggestions for a beater? I figure I'll only need to ride it maybe 10-15 days out of the year so I won't want to spend a LOT on one. Maybe a Wally World used frame would be best for this.....
