There is no wrong or right. Your bike is for you and no-one else if you think stronglight cranks are awesome than buy stronglight cranks. TA pro-5-vis were used on tons of bikes because their chainring options were endless in an era where all good quality racing cranks only offered a 41t as the smallest inner ring on a double. TA cranks can be used on any brand and if you are talking 80s you can say Japanese components on almost anything because they outperformed anything else in this era and made campagnolo wake up and catch-up! They say suntour get eaten alive and did not let the same happen to them, luckily they had a lot of heritage and loyalty behind them and unparalleled quality.

That said I think French bikes are best served up with Franch and Italian for a collector point of view and english bikes can take just about anything. If were are talking pure collector snob appeal than you can't go wrong with european components in general. It does not make a lot of sense to put anything else but campagnolo on an italian bike though.
