Yeah I figured as much. I consider it a 'nice to have, but not a deal breaker' sort of thing. Me and my wife both ride Fuji Sagres for our short commutes. It has gotten the job done, for the most part. But she made the mistake of trying to ride it in a 300 mile charity event ride. It blew up on day 1. Hahaha.

Fuji makes a good bike...but that Sagres is definitely entry level.
That Element is a nice bike, and with a change of tires it will satisfy #4. I wouldn't consider that a "nice to have" option...if you get to riding regularly, a bike that can comfortably and effectively go the distance will be something you'll need. It will also be the bike you prefer for even shorter trips.
