Enthalpic/Curve/Asgelle:

I recognize that there must be a better mechanism for high-level output... perhaps analagous to a capacitor in a circuit; it can be drained quickly and then needs to be refilled (slowly in this case).

As I have much better FTP/VO2 relative to my anaerobic power, I'd like to penalize high power appropriately. Granted, though - normalizing, with the fourth power, penalizes it fairly heavily already. But at the same time, you couldn't, say, have two minute long hills right next to each other, and have the rider (me) do 600 watts with only a thirty second rest - I might do one, but not the other. So it's pretty clear that for a combination of flat and undulating terrain, the peak power spikes during the rapidly-repeating undulations may be unattainable.

I'll review Monod in my <cough>'free time'</cough> (you see how long it took me to do the program in the first place) and throw it in there as a limiter.

As for wind - yup, that'd be an effect, but in a hypothetical (for me, not so hypothetical) flat TT I doubt it would do much, as the only difference between the out-and-back would be the increased rolling resistance, which goes roughly as the velocity - in other words, there isn't the large V^3 penalty for going slightly faster. In 'slightly' hilly 3-5% terrain I can see it influencing the outcome.
