All drivetrains are going to require a fair amount of maintenance if you ride in the rain a lot as I'm sure you do in Seattle. Campy Ergo shifters are more reliable and maintainable than STI, but I am not sure I would generalize that to the rest of the drivetrain. Campy and Shimano derailleurs are both good and both subject to wear and tear in harsh conditions.
