The part is actually new, which is why I was asking. If people thought it was in danger of breaking, I would have returned it. It didn't really seem that the part would fatigue there. I might not pursue the return, just because it seems unlikely that anything is going to wrong. If it breaks 5+ years down the line, then whatever...
