That's fine if you like extra mud on your bike half the year. No racks or trees anywhere near anyplace I park, and some places get bent if you lean on their wall, plus if someone bumps the bike it'll fall, scraping its paint all the way down the wall.

Putting a kickstand on the bike at the factory would cost $2, and anyone that didn't want it could take it off.

I feel the same about fenders. Of course all this doesn't apply to road bikes, which are mostly ridden on nice sunny days and the owners think they're going to be a ton faster if they can drop 200 grams.
