The PDG Series-5 that I'm converting to fixed gear is going to be my stripped down, bare bones, lock it up anywhere bike. My Cross Check is my baby, and I won't leave it out for the wolves.
i dont blame ya! i cant lock my bike inside at work, though, or at the store, or pretty much anywhere else. haha. for me it seems like wherever i'd want the nicest bike and equipment would be the places i wouldn't want to lock it up. then i'd spend 20 minutes dismantling the bike before i could go in to the store. i mean really, it took a long time. and i had to carry around battery packs, lights, helmet, computer... i have to figure out a compromise before i use my new bike to go shopping. maybe someday i'll have my nice fun bike and then a crappy one that still rides fairly well but wouldn't make me cry if it disappeared!

my last car cost exactly $500. haha. my last bike was more than that and this new bike was WAY more than that. its funny how different $500 sounds if you're talking about a bike as opposed to a car. like if you spend $500 on a car, you're not doing so great, but if you spend $500 on a bike, you have more money than brains. haha. maybe 5 years ago my cousin told me that her husband got a 700-dollar bike on ebay and i just about wet myself. $700?! FOR A BIKE?!

ok anyway, sorry to harp on the cost thing it just interests me.
