Bikes: Surly Crosscheck w Nexus 8 drivetrain set up as a commuter/tourer. Old and quick '89 Trek 1200. 08 Fisher Cobia 29er

I've had the light three weeks now. Tonight I spent some time downtown and took a pitch black MUP for about 2 miles onh the way home from my detour. Previously I've only used the light in an urban environment where there are street lights every 1/2 block or so. Even in pitch black, it did a great job illuminating my path. I estmated the usable speed at about 20 earlier. 15 is more realistic. If i point the beam faaaar out in front of the bike for high speeds it washes out a bit. Going around 15mph with the light spilling ~30-40ft in front of the bike I had a ton of light in my immediate path. This thing is great. More than enough light for confidence and safety in any situation unless you expect to sprint in pitch-black condidtions. Oncoming cars seem to be spotting me just fine too, even though the beam is very focused on the road in front of the bike
