Garmin Map Software (and Mac compatibility)

I've been Googling around for this and searching the forums but I just can't find an answer, so I'm hoping someone here will know. Two Garmin GPS-related questions I'd love to have answered before my Edge 705 (finally) turns up:
1. What is the optimal Garmin map product for road cycling? City Navigator seems to be the one with road data and U.S. Topo with topographic data. I'd imagine you'd want both for cycling, but if forced to chose City Navigator seems to be the move. Can anyone confirm this?
2. Garmin purports to offer a Mac OS version of City Navigator, and they even have it for sale at numerous online software stores. But for the life of me I cannot find a single review from someone who owns and uses it. So can someone conform for me that it exists? Does it work?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
