Bikes: See my sig...

Cycling and golf have a lot in common as there are lots of poseurs who are just there to look the part...

So my buddy and I go out for a round of golf and his only problem is that he doesn't have his clubs so he borrows his girlfriend's pretty blue ones... they are about the same height so the club length wasn't an issue and they were decent clubs.

We're waiting at the 4th tee (a par 4) for a group ahead of us when a few carts pull up with fellows sporting the latest and greatest in golf technology and fashion... they looked like they were being sponsored by Ping. Every club is full of these types and then there are the guys who simply play because they have a passion for the game and will destroy you.

There's a good reason they don't allow jeans on most courses...the paying members would not be able to tolerate the guy in jeans who plays better than they do.

So the Ping boys get on our asses because we haven't tee'd off yet and I tell them that we're just waiting for the group ahead of is to clear the green (which is 295 - 300 yards to the pin).

The they really start in on us saying we were slowing them down and that no-one can hit a drive that far and I relly think they meant we couldn't hit a drive that far... I think the blue clubs are what made them thing that

My friend who is built like tank and hits a ball like John Daly pulls out his driver and tees things up and makes a perfect drive to the green... I tee up and take out my Tommy Armour 2 wood (I never liked the 1) and because now I am just a little pissed off end up driving it to the green and beyond.

I told these guys if they wanted to play through they could but we'd only be giving them 250 yards before we tee'd off.

They wisely declined the offer and we went on to play some scratch golf that day.
