In terms of "seeing-by", the beam may well have a sharp cut-off point (to meet German lighting regulations), but the light is still very visible and distinctive as a "be-seen-by" light in this situation.

Also, when there's lots of traffic and street lighting around, and you can see where you're going, or in foggy daylight conditions, it's easy to angle this light up so that it points at motorists' faces.

This light is a winner on tour, too. Cycle-camping with a rechargeable halogen or HID setup just isn't a realistic proposition.
