Are you sure? Ive put kick stands on bikes like this by just being careful that the cables go over the kickstand mounting plate. I don't have specific experience with the Portland, but the plate on the kickstand isn't super-thick. Try it before you give up
I tried it with 2-3 different types of bottom mount kickstands and a few rear mount kickstands as well ! None would go on. Finally went to my LBS thinking he would definately have a solution ! They tried and gave up
I am most probably getting one of the click foldable stands that wild animals suggested.
