Back into winter

Spring and summer came to an abrupt end last night. Mother nature over Edmonton decided to leap back into winter last night. A snow storm wandered in over the city disguised as a much needed spring rain. The temperature dropped slightly and we landed ourselves 20 to 35 cm of snow. It wasn't the nice fluffy kind of fun snow. It was the hard thick wet snowman snow.

Of course I biked to work last night in a nice bit of rain. I arrived at work wet but alive. At around 1230 am is started snowing and didn't stop. Chaos erupted in the streets . It's odd how many cars get flat tires when snow storms hit. I figured it was because people slam their tires into the curbs when they slide.

In my naive belief that it was spring, I put my 120 psi tires on a couple of days ago. It as +16c outside. How could I go wrong. Rideing on thick hard slush and ice on 120 si road tires is NOT plesant. I was being thrown around the road like a rag doll. I drafted a bus for a short while but it actually got ahead of me and to add to the uncomfortable situation, I had a semi truck on my tail.

I made it home beaten, cold, soaked to the skin, and tired to boot. My shoes are still soaked. I was sure I'd be sick by now but no sign of any cold or flu yet. The thawing temperatures are notorious for makeing people sick around here.

Anymore of this and I'm moving back down south.
