I think that used bikes are the best value. You can also pick up an old Titanium bike for about $1k. I got mine in great shape for $950 & really love it, it's very comfortable. I has all 9 speed Ultegra, Mavic Open Pro rims on Ultegra hubs. I bought the seat, post, stem, & pedals.
