Since it's a low-end frame, I don't mind spraypainting and have tested a paint stripper on a throw-away frame - works well. I've also taken photos of places where name and graphics appear (pinstriping, etc.) for later reference.

A quick forum search produced mixed opinions on spraypaint and I'm not interested in sending out the frame for mediablasting + prime & paint elsewhere. What I learned of importance seemed to be the following:
  • strip down to bare metal
  • roughen up metal before priming
  • lots of priming w/ sanding in btwn coats
  • lots of final color w/ sanding in btwn
  • some sort of clearcoat on top to seal

Do folks concur? I'll be using two colors: one is the closest match by eye using PANTONE swatch system (PMS 307 for the blue) and then an off-white on the lugs for contrast. I want to do my due dilgence before jumping right in. Thanks in advance.
