To replace the rear derailleur requires only a single 8 mm open end wrench. The derailleurs are plentiful on eBay for $5-20. You remove two screws. One holds the derailleur hanger to the frame, the other is the tension pulley ( the lower one ). Remove the tension pulley and the derailleur can be slipped off the chain.
