Tires for crushed limestone touring

Anyone tour on cross tires? I have knobbies and semi-slick tires Continental Town and Country) I use on my MTB touring/commuting rig. The Historian and I will be doing some touring on crushed limestone trails, and I'm thinking that knobbies are overkill, but the T&Cs won't have quite enough traction.
