BD's average customer is not a bike technician and shouldn't have to be one for their own safety. As much as BD is discussed on this and other forums, I would guesstimate they still sell the largest percentage of their bikes to a parent for their two kids. Their average customer will never be able to remove and BB, grease it,and reinstall it to spec. They need to QC these bikes, with the right components as marketed, with the intended user in mind.

Stop being a Shill for the company just because you got a chubby over one of their misleading products.
I have seen in print on the BD web site that BD recommends taking the bike to a shop to have it assembled and checked over for safety. Also on the web site of Motobecane-USA it reads "Specifications subject to change without notice." So what is the beef here? These people know enough to add this disclaimer as specs change all the time. As far as I know BD is the distributor of bikes, and not the manufacturer. Although I feel for the OP, I believe BD did right by replacing the BB, as mentioned previously, how many LBS would do that?
