In case you have not read all the posts; it seems that there have been several instances of breakage of the same type of bottom bracket - and no reaction from the BD. If all this is true - they should not be waiting for anybody to get seriously hurt and should recall these dangerous parts.
Other manufacturers have acted responsibly in similar cases which also have been mentioned before - I once got a new MTB crankset from Shimano as part of recall (nice from them to exchange it before it could break, or not?).
