I know that carpool programs pay carpoolers in the form of subsidized van commutes, so paying bike commuters seems only fair. Here in California there are such programs for air-quaility reasons -- vanpool 90 miles, walk or bike to work and one can earn some points that can be used to buy things at some special shop (or something like that). My current employer does not participate in the program.

I would like to get some carbon credits for my commuting efforts, with the intent to sell the credits on the open carbon market. I figure that if a firm can get credits for installing carbon-saving devices, and if another firm can instead pay cash to a carbon creditor in lieu of pullution controls, then I would like to participate, too, on principle if nothing else.
