I've ran the old Gold Winner in 5spd 13x19, the New Winner in 5/6 spd 13x19, and the Winner Pro in Ultra 7 13x21. Each generation improved on the previous in terms of tolerances. All shifted smoothly, and wore well, still running the New Winner and Winner Pro. I find the beveled profile of Suntour cogs to hold up much better than most Maillard, Regina. The Winner freewheels were a big step up from their older Perfect model, IMO.
Used with a Sedisport chain, the shifts were quick and smooth. I agree with Cuda's description of their operation...a lift and drop engagement.
FYI, how about that, I run the same combo setup as Caterham. New Winner/Dura Ace EX/Sedi-Sachs (this one shifts very fast), and Winner Pro/Campy SR/Sedi-Sachs.
