you should invest in that stop-flats tape, i hit the link and it seems like a pretty good idea, god knows where you can find it in store tho. they have an inner-tube guarantee too, if the thing lets anything puncture your innertube they send you a new one, and more of the tape.
I've personally seen Mr. Tuffy strips
cause flats. Once they get old they get brittle, then they crack and end up cutting/pinching the tube.
