Alright well I pull the bars/stem and went to the LBS to get new handlebars. They said I'm SOL since the stem would need to be replaced and no one makes the stem size I have (22mm). Is this true?

I could easily sell this bike and break even on it, then buy something to convert and still stay under my total budget of $250. Which sounds like fun Should I go for the swap or just suck it up and be happy with my lame handlebars?
