When you mention chainwhip makes me think cassette. You are talking about a freewheel removal and not cassette lockring removal?

Here is my freewheel removal method: I set the wheel on the ground in a doorway. Insert freewheel puller and attach my 1/2" ratchet to the puller. Then I hold the wheel with my hands and then lightly stomp on the ratchet to get it to break loose.
