That Sugino XD500 crankset with the old logo on it looks very nice. I didn't realize that some of the Suginos came off the shelf with 24-36-48 rings until Invisible Hand and you pointed it out. I notice that in one place in the Velo Orange ad it says 24-36-46 and the other place 24-36-48 for the rings on the crankset. On Invisible Hand's link it says 24-36-48. I like that 24-36-48 combo better than 26-36-46.
I'd get the XD300, same crank as the XD600, but cheaper rings, and replace the steel rings with bright shinny TA rings of your choice. Also the Sugino Impel is an option. It uses the 64/104 BCD which gives a
nice range for touring.
If I had to choose just one crank it would be a TA zephyr, 110/74 or 56 BCD, you can use either the 74 mm BCD or the 56 BCD just inside it, not both, but good luck finding one. I wish Sugino would do a knock off of
it!
