If she's never ridden a road bike before, take her to a big parking lot first with no traffic/cars going in and out, and have her get used to it. If she is using clipless pedals, then she has to learn that as well. Don't worry so much about logging a bunch of miles on Sunday....worry more about her getting comfortable on the bike, and working on her position on the bike....as well as going over some general bike handling things, such as turning and braking.

Basically....teach her how to ride a bike.
