Now that you mention BMW: a couple of weeks ago, I was riding in the South West of France and saw a black BMW wrapped around a tree, medics were there attending the victims. I learned later that they skidded in the curve and landed against the only tree several hundred yards down the road. The three passengers were hurt but not too badly considering the state of the vehicle, what's more I learned also that they claimed the road unsafe as they "were not speeding" over the limit of 40 km/h (approx 27 mph), a speed I could safely negociate the curve with my own bike. Morale of the story: Cannondales are safer vehicles than BMWs, with or without carbon
