Look for my post where I drove from Vermont to MA with my helmet on (and since I had a hatchback, I threw the bike in the back and you couldn't see it). I got some very weird reactions from other drivers and people gave me lots of space (since of course they couldn't see the bike)
In my case, I'd driven up to ride with a buddy and after a day of hard riding I was tired and just forgot I had my helmet on.
