yeah thats not a nut to begin with, just a washer.
I would give $50 to the first person that actually broke a nut, not the lock washer.

Find out what thread it is, and you could just take a die to the axle, but in reality you should just buy a new axle, because the grain of the thread on the axle is now hosed, and no longer has it's structural integrity.
