Learning how to Fix your Bike
Hi all. I am planning a trip across the country starting in June. I am very excited about it. As I dont feel that I am completely ready for such an endevour, I feel that I am prepped enough that I will still be able to enjoy myself... However!
As long as I have been riding, I have never repaired a spoke. I used to ride some 20 miles a day for a few years and never had a repair to make. I know that sounds hard to believe, but all I would do was take it to my LBS a few times and have them give it a tune up
Obviously going 4200 miles I am bound to run into some mechanical problems. I do not want to hitchhike or find a ride to the LBS and would love to know how the bike works and what I can do to make adustmants and repairs on the side of the road incase something bad happens.
Is there anything that you would reccomend I read on how to accomplish such a task in about a month and half? Should I pay someone at my LBS to teach me these things or should I go read a book? Any help would be great. I really love this site. If it weren't for all you guys I would not be cumfortable taking this trip. Thanks again, and happy riding!
