I think it's funny how discussions like this that go on and on about gun use for self defense, fail to mention that the most important aspect of self defense is learning what areas to avoid and what times to avoid being out. I'm not saying the OP did that, I'm just saying that if you all were so concerned with self preservation that should be your number one concern. Any self defense/ martial arts school will tell you that.
