Well today was a nice day (okay, great Day for a Century)! It was our first century and I rode with John and Sandy. John is very powerful and he helped push the pace, which I don't mind as this was training (pace pushing time). I tested out a new portion of my routes through Lebanon State Forest (Brendan Byrne State Forrest, in the Pine Barrens). I went to try Mt. Misery Rd and made a right when I should have made a left (no road signs) and managed to get lost. If this had been Mt. Misery Rd then the name should have been Mt. Miserable Rd. The road way was narrow, terribly cracked and potholes the size of truck tires but it sure was pretty. Oh, there was no Mt. to go along with the road. It's named after the Mt. Misery Church that's there. The rest of the new section was gorgeous, we road past several lakes and down some fairly secluded sections of road. Anyways we were puttered along at about with a nice 18.8 mph avg. but I found my heart rate staying at 160 which was telling me we weren't going to keep that pace for the rest of the day. Sandy's rear wheel somehow ended up with two pulled spokes (Boontranger wheels) and it was dragging for the last 40 miles (ouch). So for the last 40 John dragged myself and Sandy home. We finished with an avg speed of 17.8 for 104 miles. It would have been a better day had I remembered to put on sun block. Now I'm as red as a lobster. Over all a very good day.

Next time we'll try to go the correct way and see if it's any better (make that left instead of a right). Here's the correct route:
