You folks >6'5" riding stock bikes have me scratching my head that either I'm proportioned really weirdly or my fit fu is just unbelieveably bad. I'm 6'5" with a 36.5" cycling inseam and a 37" sleeve just fits me, and I have yet to ride a bike longer distances (say > 30 miles) without all kinds of minor pains from being scrunched up, or back and neck pain from extreme saddle-bar drop to lengthen the cockpit. These bikes below have tts from 59.5 to 63cm (on the mtn bike tho), all with 130cm stems except 140 on the green machine.
Only the Surly is pretty comfortable, but it's no fun (for me) riding a fixed or ss bike 50 miles at a shot. Also only on the Surly can I look down and see the head of the stem directly over the front hub, the rest I'm way ahead of it (though that rule of thumb probably doesn't hold for us taller folk), and only on the Surly can I get even near kops.
all st measures are c-t
2005 Surly Steamroller 63cm:
1983? Gardin? 64cm (sigh, so pretty, yet just doesn't fit):
2001 Jamis Eclipse 63cm (sigh, the reason I'm officially giving up on fitting myself to a bike and getting set to get a pro fit and maybe a custom frame, dang it's a sweet bike though):
70s? candy pearl pink nightmare 65cm (RIP) (made me realize that I like hoods and I like to go far and fast):
2003 Kona Smoke 22", retrofitted as a snow/utility bike:
