I've lived in the PNW for about 3 years and have seen two occasions on the news where an armed citizen has used a firearm in defense of a victim. In my opinion both were justified. IIRC the first was when a random crazy set fire to a woman in the West Lake center and was ready to attack again and was shot by a citizen and the other was when a woman was attacked and stabbed by her ex (whom she had a restraining order against). I'm sure the police were on the way but there was imminent danger in these situations.
