When I get back to the 'set English' frame, where do I go from there? Attempting to hold the 'set' button for three seconds only takes me to the next window ie 'km/M' in this case.

I'd like to think I'm technically literate although I'm prepared to weather any barbs directed my way from the bike community if it helps me solve my 'issue.'

***UPDATE. After having left it for 1/2 hour to eat lunch, it seems that the computer reset itself and in now functional. I'd still like to learn how to lock in my settings though...
When in the setup mode, press and hold the lower left button for 3 seconds (at least according to the manual). This "SET" button is not to be confused with the "upper right" button which is actually labeled "SET" on the screen, not sure who thought up this process.

My experience is that getting out of the setup mode is hit or miss ( I have the 1606L DTS computer ) and I find I frequently enter setup mode when I remove the computer from the bike. I have on occasion just had to leave it and let it return on its own like you did.

Best of luck ...

In case you didn't already know, you can download the manual from here
