i had the same problem w/ my spindle & cup BB, but it turned out that the crank bolts were loose. i made the mistake of greasing the threads on the crank bolts so they came loose.
I expect the real cause was not the grease on the bolt threads but that the bolts weren't torqued nearly tight enough to begin with. The specified 30-35 pound-feet is MUCH tighter than you would think if you don't use a torque wrench. The Loctite solved a symptom, not the problem.
