There's at least a 5 degree heat island in town (usually 10). It was probably colder than that at some points in my ride; I often see a 5 to 10 degree difference in the low-lying areas. Today it was 38*F when I left, but there was heavy frost on the ground at some points in my ride, including up onto tall grass & corn. That indicates at least 32 and probably 30 or less.
thanks. our house is high on a hill (by the water treatment plant) so i'm not surprised that low-lying areas are significantly colder in the morning. but hey, dig this crazy sunshine, eh? i think our nasty-weather-bill will come due in november, however.
