This is very true, IMHO. The herding breeds will usually run right along side you and not stray. Hunting breeds and retrievers have a built in chase instinct that can take some work to override. The herding breads also are usually good runners.

Just remember, that when dogs run they generate a lot of heat and need a lot of water. Just be mind full of the temperature and the terrain. Rocks and thorns are bad for bike tires, but can be even worse on a dog’s paws.
