Bikes: '02 Cannondale R700 Road Warrior

I'm about to start commuting a couple of times a week, and I have a number of road bikes. But I was think about somthing like the REI Big Buzz for commuting 22 miles each way. Would I be better served to use a roadie and fore go the hybrid? Thanks
