I sent you a private followup message but since you asked the public question, I'll publicly share the essence of my reply.

It seems to me that your direct reply to my appeal implied an "exclusive" opportunity for me for a reasonable period. I replied positively in less than 24 hours and found the door closed.

That seems contrary to your original offer, since you said nothing in that initial response about it being a broadcast offer - it was to me alone. No mention of other qualifiers or "first come, first served" basis. Otherwise why attach your answer to my exclusive question?

In my estimation, you and the other party both seem in violation - however innocent, inadvertent, unmindful, etc., your action was - of the spirit of fairness and helpfulness that prevails here.

In the overall scheme of things, it's a small matter and should only serve to fine tune the C&V protocol of courtesy. I bear no ill will and sincerely hope that some of the "greybeards" (apologies to East Hill and other ladies) - will give us the benefit of their thinking on the matter.

Momentarily, I will consider myself forewarned in future dealings with you.
