If as Robbietunes said, the person contacted him "10 nanoseconds" after he posted, I think sniping would be a pretty accurate description. I wonder if the same person contacted both Robbietunes and Noah Scape. Regardless of whether or not the sellers should have waited and how long before entertaining other offers, I think it's pretty poor form on the part of the sniper.
It seems to me a more appropriate response would have been to post saying that he or she was looking for some too and if afilado doesn't take it, could you please contact them.

I have in certain situations contacted a member (not on this forum) about an item he offered to someone else, BUT I always state IF so&so doesn't take the said item, I am interested. I ALSO send a pm to the potential new owner stating the same, that if he/ she doesn't take the item, please let me & the current owner know because I am interested. Just how I try to do things.
